Optimiser won't help you with this. You need to set the affinity to a single core for Guild Wars. ANet refuse to admit there's a problem but, funny enough, people who have this "non-existant" problem seem to fix it by running on a single core.

Yup. I started to have issues, so I forced GW to use just the one core. It does help.

I never had a problem with it, I've ran Intel Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, Athlon X2, and now Core 2 QX.
But, here's how to set affinity:

Amd dualcore here, no problem.
Does the game freeze immediately, or after you've been playing for minutes/hours?

For any of you who have the random system freeze issue: if you also have dual graphics cards running in an SLi configuration.....DISABLE SLi...it kills GW. I have a rig with twin nVidia 7900GTX cards and I used to get random system freezes with GW for over a year. I tried everything, video drivers, dual-core processor issues, DirectX, you name it...nothing helped. Then, sorta by accident while testing something else, I disabled SLi. Lo and behold, since then I have NEVER had a GW freeze or lockup..and I mean in MONTHS of playing. Hope this helps some of you. GL!
Cheers

I was having them as well after upgrading to a Quad Core, but it turned out the graphics adapter, then nvidia 8500GT wasn't fast enough, so got me a 9600 and no problems.

Try setting it to single core, then if the problem persists, it's probably elsewhere.

I'm also running a quad (Q6600) and experienced PC freezing even a fatal system error by GW. Sometimes I can just close GW.exe in the task manager but most often that not I have to reset.
I forwarded my concern to ANET but they just told me to delete mt DAT file. So I did and dowloaded a fresh DAT file by -image. Had no problem for a week but it then started again curiously while in OBS. It's been quite frustrating especially when it happens while PVP'ing.
Ill try the set core affinity trick and see if it does it!

Google "ForceCore"
Btw, I had an AMD 64 X2 dual-core processor and had to use ForceCore to keep it from locking up. I recently upgraded to a Core 2 Quad - new mobo & RAM - ditched the Audigy (using on-board) - and changed the hard drive - and went from XP to Vista. It locks up less, but it still does (I haven't run it with ForceCore under Vista yet.)
